Energize Marketing published an interview with Sam Kumarsamy, who leads go-to-market strategy at NuGuard AI, on October 22, 2026, as part of its Expert Perspectives feature. Solange Deschatres conducted the interview.
Sam's view is that cybersecurity marketers need to understand the technology they sell. He runs product demos himself and changes the pitch for each audience: speeds and feeds for engineers, faster time to production for developers, and audit-ready evidence before release for CTOs and CISOs. He uses AI for routine research, but checks what it gives him with people who know the subject and runs the same question through several models before he trusts an answer.
Much of the conversation is about building demand for a category buyers aren't searching for yet. Sam describes starting with education about the behavior gap, backed by analyst coverage from IDC and Omdia. Developers can start with the free open source CLI, which has been downloaded tens of thousands of times, and security and engineering leaders with an enterprise trial. He also shares what he has learned from AI-assisted outreach so far. The data helps with targeting, but NuGuard's current proofs of concept all came from personal connections rather than automated email.
